Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of diabetes insipidus after surgery for pituitary adenomas. Methods The data of 324 cases pituitary adenoma patients treated by transsphenoidal operation were reviewed. Results Among the 324 patients,104 cases complicated with diabetes insipidus,The incidence rate was 32.10%.The prevalence rate was higher than that of the female,The incidence of diabetes insipidus microadenoma>macroadenomas>giant adenoma,Total removal of the tumor in patients with diabetes insipidus occurred rate was significantly higher than that of selective subtotal resection in patients with tumor, The difference was statistically significant(χ2=4.43,F=3.51,χ2=3.98,all P<0.05). Conclusion Patients gender, tumor size and operation mode with transnasal transsphenoidal pituitary adenoma resection and postoperative diabetes insipidus associated,Therefore it should fully grasp in clinical treatment and nursing,in order to reduce the incidence of complications. Key words: Pituitary tumor; Surgical operation; Diabetes insipidus
