Abstract

Objective To compare the effect of compound tropicamide and atropine ophthalmic solution in mydriatic refractometry for ametropia children. Methods 126 cases(252 eyes) ametropia children aged from 4 to 18 years w ere randomly selected,using tw o kinds of mydriatic( compound tropicamide and atropine) to dilate the pupils successively. All cases w ere grouped by age as group A( 8 years),group B(8 ~ 12 years) and group C( 12 years).The optometry results w ere measured and compared by paired T-test. Results There w as significant difference in diopter of hypermetropia children in group A and group B( P 0. 05) betw een different mydriatic drugs treatment,w hile no significant difference w as found in group C( P 0. 05). There w as significant difference w as found in group A( P 0. 05) for myopia children,w hile no significant difference w as found in group B and group C( P 0. 05). Conclusion The application of atropine in mydriatic refractometry for myopia children aged below 8 years and hypermetropia children aged below 12 years is necessary.
