Abstract

Objective To discuss the clinical value of NGF of umbilical cord blood in diagnosing early neonatal asphyxia and its relationship with prognosis, and to investigate the effect of high risk factors in perinatal period and NBNA in the occurrence, development and prognosis of neonatal asphyxia. Methods 30 normal full term infants were selected as control group and 57 asphyxia infants were selected as asphyxia group.Cord blood was collected after the baby was delivered and ELISA was used to test the blood.Perinatal information of the two groups was collected and analyzed.NBNA scores of the two groups were recorded on the 1st day,3rd day and 7th day after the baby was delivered. Results The NGF level in umbilical cord blood of neonates with asphyxia was significantly lower than the normal full-term newborns(P0.05),and there were statistically significant differences in NGF levels between any two groups of normal full-term newborns group, normal Apgar scores but having nervous system symptoms group, mild asphyxia group and severe asphyxia group(P0.05).NGF level in umbilical cord blood of asphyxia newborns and their Apgar scores were positively correlated(r=0.410,P=0.002).There were statistically significant differences in NBNA scores between any two groups of normal full-term newborns group, normal Apgar scores but having nervous system symptoms group, mild asphyxia group and severe asphyxia group on the 1st day,3rd day and 7th day after birth(P0.05),and the more serious the condition was,the lower the score would be.On the 7th day,the percentage of NBNA score35 points of normal Apgar scores but having nervous system symptoms group, mild asphyxia group and severe asphyxia group were 20.0%,36.7% and 94.1% respectively.NBNA score in umbilical cord blood of asphyxia newborns and their Apgar score were positively correlated(r=0.694,P=0.000).NGF level in umbilical cord blood of asphyxia newborns and their NBNA score were positively correlated(r=0.364,P=0.005). Conclusion Detection of NGF level and dynamical monitoring of NBNA score after birth is extremely important for the improvement of the diagnosis and severity judgment of neonatal asphyxia,as well as for the prevention of consequent sequelae like hypoxia-encephalopathy(HIE),epilepsy and cerebral palsy.
