The Metaphysical Destination of Perceptual Form——Aesthetic Interpretation on Chuang Tzu's View of Form and Spirit

Chuang Tzu's view of form and inherently contains three dialectical and profound levels.The first level is of form and spirit which affirms the existent value of form,and it is considered that a healthy life should be the unity of form and spirit.The second level is negating form but confirming spirit which suggests there is a principal and subordinate relationship between and form.Form is just a material means,while is the metaphysical destination of perceptual form.The third level is of form with spirit which emphasizes that is the essence and core of life.The path leading to the peaceful Daoism is to conserve and maintain spirit.This is a higher stage of the combination of form and after denying the previous stage.Chuang Tzu's concept of form and has a great effect on later literature and art;therefore,Chinese classical aesthetics begin to embark on the road of focusing on expression.
