Pharmacoeconomic Analysis of 4 Kinds of Antipsychotics for the Treatment of Schizophrenia

OBJECTIVE:To compare the efficiency and the costs of 4 kinds of antipsychotics for the treatment of schizophrenia,and explore most suitable drugs for schizophrenic patients by applying pharmacoeconomic theory.METHODS: To investigate the efficiency,adverse reactions,life quality and treatment costs of schizophrenic patients taking chlorderazin,olanzapine risperidone and clozapine.RESULTS:Effective power of chlorderazin,risperidone,olanzapine and clozapine was equivalent without significant difference;there was some difference in life quality but not great;The costs spent on risperidone,olanzapine,clozapine and chlorderazin within 1 year were respectively 8 260.50±2 438.56 yuan,19 328.60±6 573.29 yuan,1 709.60±925.87 yuan and 1 512.00±823.65 yuan.The difference was great,P0.05 or(P0.01).CONCLUSION: The cost of olanzapine——a new type of antipsychotic is too expensive.Risperidone is suitable for psychotic patients in China.The cost of clozapine is low but with a lot of adverse reactions,it is usually used for severe psychotic patients;The cost of traditionally used chlorderazin is cheap but with some severe adverse reactions,so with patients' life quality improved,chlorderazin will be gradually less used.
