Abstract
Objective To investigate an effective endoscopic method for the treatment of bladder calculi secondary to benign prostatic hyperplasia. Methods A nephrosope was inserted into the bladder via out sheath of resectoscope. Bladder stones were fragmented and removed with pneumatic ballistic and ultrasound lithotripter under endoscope. Results Stones were completely removed from the bladder on one session in all cases. The mean time of lithotripsy was 4-60 min.No massive haemorrhage, perforation or water intoxication occurred. No recurrence of calculi or urethral stricture was seen during 3-15 months of follow-up.Conclusion Combined pneumatic ballistic and ultrasound lithotripsy via out sheath of resectoscope is effective and safe in the treatment of bladder calculi secondary to benign prostatic hyperplasia.
