Abstract
Based on a comprehensive survey of the contestants in the National Young Wushu Sanda Tournament, the thesis reveals the characteristics of pre ?competition anxiety and is intended to provide guidance for training, so as to improve athletes performance in competition. The states of pre - competition anxiety were measured and recorded against the Quantitative Standards Measuring Sport Competition Anxiety (revised edition) by Martens. The study suggests that cognitive anxiety and somatic anxiety are decreasing in the process of competition while self- confidence enhanced. When somatic anxiety is at middle level, the athlete is at his/her best. The more self - confidence they have, the better they play.
