Study of C-erbB-2 Gene Expression in Breast Cancer Patients

Abstract

Objective: To investigate the relationship between the expression of C-erbB-2 gene and clinical and pathological factors of patients with breast cancer.Methods:Using the SP method of immunohistochemistry,156 breast cancer patients were analyzed for their status of the expression of C-erbB-2 gene.Results:Significant relationship was found between positive expression of C-erbB-2 gene and lymph node metastasis,histological type,clinical stage and the length of postoperative survive period,but the expression showed no correlation with patient's age.Conclusion:The expression of C-erbB-2 gene is closely related with the development of breast cancer and may be one of those significant prognostic factors.
