Abstract
Objective To study the effect of vascular endothelial function and homocysteine(Hcy)in elderly CHD patients. Methods One hundred and fifty elderly CHD patients were divided into old myocardial infarction group(n=56),stable angina pectoris group(n=51),and acute coronary syndrome group(n=43).Their serum Hcy,TC and LDL-C levels, hypertension, smoking history were compared. The association of serum Hcy level and endothelium-dependent vasodilation rate with CHD was analyzed. Results The incidence of elevated serum Hcy level was significantly higher in acute coronary syndrome group than in stable angina pectoris group and old myocardial infarction group. The serum Hcy level was significantly higher while the endothelium-dependent vasodilation rate was significantly lower in acute coronary syndrome group than in stable angina pectoris group and old myocardial infarction group(P0.01).Spearman correlation analysis showed that serum Hcy level was positively correlated with CHD(r=6.332,P=0.038)while endothelium-dependent vasodilation rate was negatively correlated with CHD(r=-7.254,P=0.038).Conclusion Vascular endothelial function and serum Hcy level are closely associated with CHD in the elderly,it is thus worthy of paying attention to them in clinical treatment of CHD.
