Abstract

This trial was conducted to study the effect of ligustrum lucidum on growth performance and anti-oxidation of weaned piglets.48 Duroc×(Landrace×Largewhite) weaned piglets(28 d) were allotted to four treatments with three replications per treatment and 4 weaned piglets per replication. The piglets of the control group were given a basal meal diet, and the piglets of the other groups were given a basal meal diet supplemented with 20 mg·kg-1 colistin sulfate(the antibiotic group),0.2% probiotics(the probiotic group) or 1% LL(the LL group). The piglets were given a basal corn-soybean meal diet supplemented with the control,20 mg·kg-1 colistin sulfate,0.2% probiotics or 1% LL.The trial period was 28 d,from 28-day-old to 56-day-old.The results showed that supplementation of LL and colistin sulfate all significantly(P0.05) increased ADG and ADFI of weaned piglets, and supplementation of LL could also significantly(P0.05) increase the SOD and GSH-PX activity of serum and liver while significantly(P0.05) induced the MDA content of serum, heart and liver. The results indicated that LL had positive effects on the growth performance and anti-oxidation of weaned piglets, and the effects of anti-oxidation were better than colistin sulfate.
