Expression of matrix metalloproteinased-7 and its significance for the prognosis of pancreatic carcinoma

Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the expression of MMP-7 and its significance for the prognosis of pancreatic carcinoma. METHODS: By immunohistochemistry, the expression of MMP-7 was detected and the relationship between MMP-7 and the survival time of patients with pancreatic carcinoma was analysed. RESULTS: The positive rate of MMP-7 in pancreatic carcinoma was 70.9% (44/62). The expression of MMP-7 was correlated with the gross configuration of tumor,TNM stage, lymph node metastasis and lymphatic invasion. The patients with low-expression of MMP-7 survived significantly longer than those with high-expression,P=0.000 1. CONCLUSION: The expression of MMP-7 is related to prognosis and is an independent prognostic factor in pancreatic carcinoma.
