Abstract
Objective To investigate the antiangiogenic and antiendothelial capability of curcumin. Methods In vivo, the effects of curcumin on angiogenesis induced by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)and basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF), were observed by chorioallantioic membrane(CAM)test. The effect of curcumin on proliferation of human vascular endothelial cells with different concentrations and cultivated time was assessed by MTT assay. Results Curcumin strongly inhibited the angiogenesis induced by VEGF and bFGF in CAM, and the proliferation of the HUVEC in a time and dose-dependent manner. Conclusion Curcumin has prominent antiangiogenesisi effects both in vitro and in vivo.
