Abstract
Oath of Alliance was very popular in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty.Materials of Oath of Alliance mostly can be found in Houma Oath of Alliance,Wenxian Oath of Alliance,two unearthed works,and the classic literature Zuo Zhuan.Based on the comparison of oath language among Hou Ma Oath of Alliance,Wen Xian Oath of Alliance of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty and Zuo Zhuan.This paper discusses the character of oath language and its development during later ages,within aim to find out its found historical origins.It concludes that oath language had developed the specific mode and there were fixed sentence patterns and formula when used.Meanwhile,oath has been influenced by oath of individuals.Both of them had changed gradually and integrated each other in the later ages.
