On the Popularity of Marxism during the May Fourth Movement

The wide spread of Marxism during the May Four Movement laid a solid ideological and theoretical foundation for the founding of the Chinese Communist Party and pointed out the direction for the development of new democratic revolution.To study the spread of Marxism during the May Fourth Movement has a great significance for the accurate understanding and grasping of Marxism and for the promoting of the localization,popularity and modernization of Marxism in China.It is indispensible to study Marxism from the perspective of the historical origins,historical process and historical law.To take the historical origins of the spread of Marxism as the starting point,this paper examines the relative problems concerning the popularity of Marxism during the May Fourth Movement,hoping to have a better understanding of the localization,popularity and modernization of Marxism in China during the period of new democratic revolution,the socialist revolution and construction,as well as the new era of reform and opening up.
