The medicinal plant resource in Hainan and its conservation

The changes of the medicinal plant resources in Hainan were discussed. In the last more than 40 years, the medicinal plant resources in Hainan had been badly destroyed. Their reserves reduce sharply chiefly because of decrease of tropical forest, deterioration of ecological environment, excessive collection and lack of scientific harvesting methods. Some problems existing in the conservation of the medicinal plant resources were pointed out. The proposals were brought forward to conduct the survey of medicinal plant resources, to strengthen the research and ex situ conservation of the commonly used, rare and endangered medicinal plants in the paper.
