Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of infected root canal preparation by the Mtwo rotary nickel-titanium instrument. Methods A total of 68 infected single roots from 56 patients were selected and divided into Mtwo group(n=35) and ProTaper group(n=33).Then in Mtwo group, the root canal was prepared using single length technology, and in ProTaper group,crown-down technique was employed.Samples were taken before and after root canal preparation, inoculated and cultured. Then the anaerobe changes were detected. The preparation time and postoperative pain were also recorded.Radiographs were used to determine the quality of preparation and filling. Results The number of anaerobes in the root canal in both groups were reduced dramatically and the reduction of in the experimental group was larger than in the control group, but the incidence of postoperative pain in the experimental group was higher. As a result, both groups could excellently complete root canal preparation in a short time. Conclusion Mtwo rotary nickel-titanium instrument can effectively reduce the number of anaerobe in the root canal, and can prepare root canal rapidly and effectively. Thus it is worth wide clinical application.
