Abstract

The polyferric sulfate(PFS) was prepared through oxidation of NaClO3 with FeSO4 · 7H2O as the raw material, and the composite flocculant was obtained by means of Ce3+ complex with polyferric sulfate.FTIR and UV spectra were employed to characterize the samples. In addition, the performance of the flocculants on treating oilfield wastewater was investigated through CODCr and turbidity removal rate. The results show that a new bond Ce—OH—Fe is formed between Ce3+ and hydroxy in polyferric sulfate in the composite. Moreover, the treatment efficiency of the composite flocculant is superior to polyferric sulfate alone, and the removal rates of CODCr and turbidity were close to or up to 90% when the Ce3+/Fe3+ molar ratio is 1.5%.So it has a very good application prospect in oilfield wastewater treatment.
