Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) and its relationship to mutant P53 protein in ovarian carcinoma.Methods:The Expression COX-2 and p53 proteins was examined by Immunohistochemistry in 98 samples of ovarian carcinoma and 20 normal ovaries.Results:The expression of COX-2 protein was detected in 45.9%(45/98) of ovarian carcinoma, and p53 protein accumulation was found in 43.9%(43/98) ovarian carcinoma.Howerver,the expression of COX-2 and p53 protein was negative in normal ovarian tissues.COX-2 protein expression was detected in 69.8%(30/43) p53 accumulation of 43 ovarian carcinoma,there were 27.3%(15/55) COX-2 protein expression in the p53 protein negative of 55 ovarian carcinoma (P0.05). There was a significant positive correlation between COX-2 expression and p53 accumulation status.Conclusion:There is a COX-2 overexpression in ovarian carcinoma.Inactivation of antioncogene p53 and overexpression of COX-2 may play an interaction in the development of ovarian carcinoma.
