Abstract

OBJECTIVE To analyze the utilization of antibiotics in out-patient department of our hospital and enhance the clinical rational medication.METHODS 4 800 out-patient prescriptions were selected randomly in 2009.The prescriptions containing antibiotics were retrospectively commented and analyzed.RESULTS The ratio of using antibiotics was 31.12% taking up 21.94% of the total drug expenses. The ratio of using general names was 70.91% and that of the combination medicine was 16.40%.The average course of treatment with antibiotics was 6.6 days. The rational rate of the prescriptions was 51.54% and the defects included irregularity in 366 prescriptions and irrational drug using in 428 prescriptions.CONCLUSION The antibiotics prescription indicators are essentially reasonable in our hospital but the quality is not good.It is suggested that attention should be paid to the quality of prescriptions and improve the level of antibiotcs rational use.
