Abstract
The anaerobic baffled reactor(ABR) was used to treat the mixed wastewater from production of synthetical medicine, pesticide intermediates and light solidified initiators. The results indicate that the fibre carrier suspended in the upward-flow compartment of the ABR can reduce sludge loss and enhance the treatment efficiency of the ABR.The optimal COD concentration for anaerobic biochemistry treatment activity should be lower than 7 600 mg/L in the mixed wastewater, and an accumulation of anaerobic bacterium community is observed in the ABR.It is also found that the alkalinity of the wastewater is insufficient, and about 2 to 2.5 g Na2CO3 or NaHCO3 per liter should be added to prevent the acid accumulation inside the primary and secondary compartment of the ABR.When the HRT is 48 h and the volume load is 1.5 to 3.8 kgCOD/(m3·d),the COD removal efficiency reaches 50%.
