Abstract

During round pearl production with Pteria penguin, the cone cages and plastic cages were used in the preoperative weakening process of adults Pteria penguin, and the left pearl-sac and right pearl-sac of a host pearl oyster was implanted a round nucleus and a piece of mantle tissue to produce round pearl. The survival rate of the adults was 93.67% and 85.67% after preoperative weakening process in cone cages and plastic cages for 13-15 days. And after 2 months rehabilitation, the mortality and retention rate of the producing shells that was implanted into a nucleus and a piece of mantle tissue in left pearl-sac was 41.85-42.76% and 10.34-12.96%,respectively;and those in right pearl-sac were 39.0-40.0% and 19.67%-20.00%,respectively.The result showed that the proper preoperative weakening process of adults Pteria penguin should be cultured in cone cages, and the nucleus should be implanted in right pearl-sac.
