Abstract
Objective To disscuss clinical effect of orthodontic traction on anterior subgingival residual roots. Methods A total of 40 cases with residual roots which were located 1 mm to 3 mm under the gingival margins were Selected. The orthodontic traction was applied followed by perfect root canal therapy, and then fiber posts and CAD/CAM all-ceramic crown were applied to restoration.Clinical effect and patients’ satisfactions were evaluated. Results Combined with endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, orthodontics and other comprehensive treatment, after orthodontic traction for 6 to 8 weeks, all residual roots turn to supragingival with average 1.15 mm higher than the gingival margin. The roots are pulled out 2.59 mm averagely. The restorations were firm and the gingival margins were healthy, the crown margins were concordant with those of adjacent teeth, and the roots were steady. Conclusion Choosing appropriate cases, the multidisciplinary therapy is an applicable choice to deal with subgingival roots in anterior.
