Abstract

Objective:To explore the relationship between atherosclerosis of carotid artery and coronary heart disease in postmenopausal women.Methods:95 postmenopausal women with chest pain, angina pectoris and myocardial infarction were enrolled in the study. All the patients underwent coronary angiography and color Doppler ultrasound of carotid artery within one week, the intima-media thickness(IMT) of paries posterior of vessels was detected.According to the coronary angiography, all the patients were divided into one-vessel group,multi-vessels group and control group. The IMT and the incidence of plaque of carotid artery were compared among three groups. Results:There was significant difference in IMT between one-vessel group,multi-vessels group and control group(P0.01).Conclusion:Atherosclerosis of carotid artery is closely related to coronary heart disease, color Doppler ultrasound of carotid artery may be used to predict coronary artery lesion degree of atherosclerosis.
