Abstract
Objective To study the feasibility of non-surgical root canal retreatment of infected root canals,and the possible problems and shortcomings. And to find the effective solutions, and further improve the success rate of root canal therapy.Methods In this study,189 patients were collected and analyzed,256 teeth with 403 root canals which needed to retreat in our hospital. Results The missed root canals and the poor root canal pathway were the main reasons of the root canal retreatment( 31. 27% and15. 14%,respectively); 16. 12% was identified as the root canal with less perfect filling; 10. 17% was accounted by C-type root canal and periapical diseases was 8. 68%; Coronal microleakage and instruments separation of root canal accounted for 3. 23% and 2. 73%.Conclusion Use the effective solutions,non-surgical root canal retreatment of infected root canals could help patients to improve the teeth with cure rate and survival rate significantly; Improve the diagnosis and treatment with oral clinicians,and also play an important role to promote the quality of medical care.
