Abstract

With pre-harvest treatment of different calcium concentrations, the changes in physiology and quality attributes of peach fruits for processing during storage periods were investigated. The results showed that the calcium treatment with different concentration 30d before harvest decreased the respiration rate and ethylene production, inhibited PPO activity, and maintained fruit firmness and quality. The spraying of 1.0%and 1.5%Ca(NO_3)_2 is the best effective treatment which significantly improved the fruit firmness, delayed senescence during storage periods, reduced flesh browning and maintained the quality of peach fruits.
