Abstract
Objective To study the protective effects of the Pioglitazone on the kidney of diabetic rats. Methods The model of DM rats induced by STZ were randomly divided into the following four groups inclucling pioglitazone group, diabetic model group, group of irbesartan, pioglitazone group combined with irbesartan group and normal control group. For each group of rats were respectively intervened for 12 weeks by the corresponding measures, and renal histopathological change was observation by light microscopic. TIMP-1 and TGF-β1 in renal tissue were detected by immunohistochemical technique, and PDGF- β expression in renal tissue was detected by western blotting. Results The renal tissue histopathological of diabetic model group was markedly different from others group. The expression of TIMP-1,TGF-β1 and PDGF-β on renal cortex were increased in diabetic rats model group(P0.05). Conclusion Pioglitazone has the protective effects in the kidney of diabetic rats. The protection mechanism of pioglitazone may be associated with reduction the expression of TIMP-1,TGF-β1 and PDGF-β.
