On the Theoretical Contribution of Marxist Historical Materialism

Historical Materialism is the theoretical foundation stone of Marxist system.One of its theoretical contributions is humans in reality as the starting-point of Historical Materialism.Humans in reality has revealed that the essence of human and social life is practical,the human is the unity of activity and restrictiveness,and the essence of man is sum of all social relations.Thus man′s subject status through self-creation and self-production is established,and the scientific basis for man′s historical restrictiveness is also settled.So it overcomes the basic defect of all the past social historical theories and social sciences.Historical Materialism has also realized the shift from materialism ontology to methodology,which makes social sciences truly change to sciences and provides an important methodology principle for all social sciences.
