Study on Evaluation of Ecological Capacity in Henan Province Based on Ecological Footprint Model

The theory and method of ecological footprint provides a new perspective for measurement of regional sustainable development. By using ecological footprint model,based on the statistical data of Henan Province in 2002,2004,2006,2008 and2010,the changes of ecological footprint and ecological capacity of supply was calculated and analyzed. And on this basis,according to the provincial cities as a unit,the spatial distribution pattern of ecological footprint and the supply of ecological capacity in Henan Province in 2010 were also researched. Results showed that the ecological footprint of Henan Province in 2002,2004,2006,2008,2010 is always greater than the supply of ecological capacity. Ecological deficit in this five years is widening,31 940 400 hm2,45 045 400 hm2,51 679 500 hm2,63 245 900 hm2,73 231 600 hm2in turn. The above shows that the economic development of Henan Province beyond the supply of ecological capacity,in a state of unsustainable. Due to the unbalanced distribution of ecological footprint and ecological capacity,ecological deficit also exists difference in the spatial distribution. The areas of ecological deficit seriously are mainly centralized in the middle and northern part of Henan Province,in these cities with high speed development and high energy- consuming industry.
