Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of dexmedetomidine on rats with acute renal injury induced by lipopolysaccharide. Methods 18 adult male SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: control group( group C,n = 6),LPS group( group L,n = 6),dexmedetomidine group( group D,n = 6). In group C and group L,the rats were infused with saline and lipopolysaccharide( 5 mg / kg,iv) respectively. In group D,after the infusion of lipopolysaccharide( 5 mg /kg,iv),the rats were firstly infused the loaded dose of dexmedetomidine( 7 μg /kg),and then infused at a rate of5 μg /( kg·h). 6 h later,3 m L blood was collected for measuring TNF-α,IL-1β,Scr and BUN. Histological analysis of the kidneys was performed. Results The levels of TNF-α,IL-1β,Scr and BUN in group L and group D were higher than those of group C( P 0. 05),and the above indexes in group D was lower than that of group L( P 0. 05). Histological changes: the kidney of the group D showed lessened injury. Conclusion Dexmedetomidine can alleviate the inflammation induced by lipopolysaccharide, improve the renal function and thus protect the kidneys from these injuries.
