Reoperation of Peripheral Nerve Injury

Abstract
Objective: To investigate reoperative methods and results of peripheral nerve injury.Methods:167 patients with peripheral nerve injury who got poor results after primary operation were reoperated.Operation methods included neurolysis,neurolysis accompany partial nerve repair,nerve repair,nerve graft.The outcome was evaluated according to BMRC criteria.Results:125 patients were followed up.The follow up period were 10 months to 7 years with an average of 28 months.Of 142 nerves 52 were excellent,45 good,23 fair,22 poor.Conclusion:Reoperation is recommended to peripheral nerve injury for which the results of primary operation were poor.Electrophysiological monitoring in the operation is useful in electing operative methods and predicting the results of nerve repair.
