Abstract

Cyclohexanone ethylene ketal was synthesized from cyclohexanone and ethylene by nucleophilic addition reaction, using SO3/γ-Al2O3 solid acid as the catalyst and cyclohexane as the water-carrying agent. The effects of varying the molar ratio of ketone and alcohol, catalyst dosage and reaction time on the yield were studied systematically. The experiment results showed that the optimal reaction conditions are as follows:the molar ratio of cyclohexanone to ethylene glycol is 1∶1.4,the amounts of catalyst and cyclohexane are 0.5g and 10mL respectively, and reflux reaction time is 1.0h.Under the conditions above, the yield of cyclohexanone ethylene ketal can reach 87%,which indicates the good catalytic activity of SO3/γ-Al2O3 solid acid.
