Abstract
Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of extract from caulis ampelopsis grossdentatae on experimental schistosoma japonicum hepatic fibrosis in mice. Methods Extract from caulis ampelopsis grossdentatae was prepared and 80 mice randomized into groups normal control(group A),model(group B),praziquantel(group C),praziquantel with extract from caulis ampelopsis grossentatae(group D).Except group A,every mouse from the other groups was infected, through abdominal skin, with schistosoma japomicum cercariae to induce liver fibrosis models.Groups C,D were given intragastrically responding drugs after 8 weeks of the infection. After the experiment, mouse livers were taken to weigh and calculate liver index.Mouse liver morphology was observed.Another liver tissue was taken from the fixed sites to perform histopathologic examination. Results No significant difference was noted in liver index between groups C,B after 8 weeks of infection(P0.05),but liver index of group D decreased remarkably as compared with group B(P0.05).After intervention, the liver fibrosis grading and scores were lower in group C,D than in group B,and lower in group D than in group C,the difference was significant(P0.05).Conclusion Extract from caulis ampelopsis grossdentatae, which can improve schistosomiasis liver morphology and the liver tissue structure of mice with liver fibrosis and reduce the degree of liver fibrosis and the pathology scores of mice with schistosomiasis liver fibrosis, has an obvious curative effect on schistosomiasis liver fibrosis.
