Study of mechanical ventilation used in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with respiratory failure

Objective To investigate the tactics of mechanical ventilation used in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with respiratory failure.Methods Retrospective summary about the treatment courses of mechanical ventilation in the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with respiratory failure.Results Of all the 43 cases,36 were weaned successful, 5 were died and 2 were gived up treatment . 12 had complications.Conclusions Early mechanical ventilation is the most effective and rapid method for respiratory failure. Small tidal volume, aggressive nutritional support, controlling infection, and aggressive management of air way are keys of advancing success.
