Abstract
Effects of 3,6 dimethamidodiben zopyriodonium gluconate(I 93) on focal cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury were studied in reversible cerebral middle artery occlusion model without craniectomy in rats. I 93 0.125,0.25 and 0.5 mg·kg -1 ip at 10 min before ischemia dose dependently inhibited the elevation of lactate dehydrogenase and creatine kinase activities in serum induced by cerebral ischemia for 3 h followed by reperfusion for 3 h, decreased the size of cerebral infarction and mortality of animal. I 93 0.5 mg·kg -1 also improved the brain ultrastructure damage. These results indicate that I 93 has protective effects against cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury.
