Abstract
Objective To study the clinical characteristics of the orbital blowout fracture and the diagnostic and therapeutic methods. Methods We reviewed the clinical data of 36 cases(36 eyes) with orbital blowout fracture in our hospital between September 2000 to June 2004. Results 18 cases resulted from hits on the eyes,15 cases from traffic accidents. The patients usually presented diplopia, limitation of eye movement, and enophthalmos.CT scan confirmed the lesion of the eye.Postoperatively, diplopia disappeared in 32 cases and ductions were normal in 32 cases, improved in 4 cases. The protrusive degree of the affected eye reached 10.5 to 15mm(averaged 13.5mm) and the protrusive difference between the two eyes was +1.5 to-2.0mm(averaged +l.0mm).There were no complications after operation. Conclusion CT scan plays an important role in diagnosis of orbital blowout fracture. The exercise of eye movement in the early stage after operation can reduce the diplopia and improve the movement function of the globe.
