Abstract

Setting pre-signal control at the signal intersection is one of the effective measures to execute bus priority. This paper studies the distribution method of the approaches and the traffic regulations of bus stopping under the control of pre-signal which is based on bus priority. We also put forward a method to calculate the distance between the pre-signal stopping line and the main signal stopping line by using the data of the bus arriving rates in peak-hour,main signal phase red light time, the number of approaches and the length for the individual bus to stop. Finally,we analyze the deficiency of the coordination for signal planning between the pre-singal and the main signal which has been described in some articles, and also put forward an improved method.
