Abstract

Objective To investigate the correlation between serum adiponectin and uric acid level and severity of coronary artery disease. Methods The serum concentrations of adiponectin and uric acid in 112 patients who had received CAG were divided into three groups: 58 cases with acute coronary artery syndrome(s ACS,ACS group),25 cases with stable angina pectori(s stable angina pectoris group)and 29 cases with non-coronary disease(control group).Adiponectin and uric acid were measured. The severity of coronary artery lesion was evaluated by the number of stenosis vessel and Gensini score.According to the lesion scope, there were four groups: control group(=29),single vessel lesion group(=24),double-vessel lesion group(=26)and triple vessel lesion group(=33);according to Gensin scores, there were also four groups: score 0 ~ 1 group(=29),score 2 ~ 20 group(=28),score 21 ~ 40 group(=30),score 40 group(=25).Results Patients with acute coronary syndrome had lower adiponectin levels than those without coronary heart disease and those with stable angina pectori(s 0.05).Patients with acute coronary syndrome had higher uric acid levels than those without coronary heart disease and those with stable angina pectori(s 0.05).The serum concentrations of adiponectin in the control group were significantly higher than those in the single vessel lesion group,double-vessel lesion group and triple vessel lesion group( 0.05).The serum concentrations of uric acid in the control group were significantly lower than those in the single vessel lesion group,double-vessel lesion group and triple vessel lesion group( 0.05).TheserumconcentrationsofadiponectininGensiniscore0 ~ 1groupandscore2 ~ 20groupwererespectively higher than those in score 21 ~ 40 group and score 40 group( 0.05).Serum adiponectin concentration were negatively correlated with the log of Gensini score(=-0.584, 0.05).The serum concentrations of uric acid in Gensini score 0 ~ 1 group and score 2 ~ 20 group were respectively lower than those in score 21 ~ 40 group and score 40 group( 0.05).Serum uric acid concentration were positively correlated with the log of Gensini score(= 0.348, 0.05)Conclusions The decrease in serum adiponectin and the increase in serum uric acid might reflect increase in severity of coronary artery stenosis.
