Contributions of Science and Technology to the Development of Sea-lane Trade Between China and Arab in the Tang Dynasty

Tang Dynasty was a key period in China and Arab' s trade development history. The trade between China and Arab went on through the Silk Road mainly by land before Tang. In the middle and late Tang, the Sea-lane became the main passway of China and Arab' instead of the land.The development of science and technology is one of the most important factors that made a rapid development of sea-lane trade between China and Arab in the Tang Dynasty.This article explores the factors of technology to the development of trade between the two countries in Tang from astronomical positions,navigations and trade winds as well as technigues of making ships.
