An Analysis of the Reasons for the Rise of Searoute Trade in Tang Dynasty

The rise of searoute trade in Tang Dynasty had an epoch-making significance in the history of Chinese foreign trade. It had profounding social base. This article is trying to analyzing the historical inevitability of the rise and development of the searoute trade in Tang Dynasty from the following five aspects: the coming of many foreign merchants to the coastal area at the beginning of the Dynasty, the block of land route in the middle of the Dynasty, the development of the searoute transportation, the encouraging policies of the government, as well as the development and flourishing of commodity economy in the south.
