Abstract
The geographical information systems (GIS),the integration of fundamental subsystem and functional subsystem,play an important role in intelligent transportation systems (ITS).In the design of GIS for ITS,the B/S structure is used as the system architecture.The system functions of GIS,including four parts of functional components: data input,data management,spatial analysis and system maintenance data refreshment,are also worked out.Based on the functions,the diagram layers and databases of GIS,as well as the application interfaces,are also developed.Having been used in the project of ITS for Lanzhou city and in project supported by NSFC,the design is reasonable and practical.Lastly,the imperative problems in GIS for ITS are provided..
