Revelation of National Culture——A Case Study of Ku Hungming’s Discourse & Sayings of Confucius from a Metonymic Perspective

Ku Hungming devoted himself to a mission of promoting the image of Chinese culture with his efforts in translating The Discourse Sayings of Confucius.Adopting his English translation version as an exemplar,this paper elaborates on Ku’s translation strategies in specific historic-cultural context.Functioning as the subject of translation,Ku marked his translation version with acculturation cultural common core,and cultural default. It is a positive attempt to give a justifiable position for Ku’s translation activity.
