Abstract

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect and nursing measures of combined therapy of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and western medicine for herpes simplex keratitis(HSK).Methods A total of 179 HSK patients(186 eyes) were randomly divided into treatment group(n=93,97 eyes) to receive treatment of TCM syndrome differentiations, bathe the eyes with ultrasonic nebulization of Chinese herbs, combined with antivirus treatment of western medicine and control group(n=86,89 eyes)to receive intravenous administration of antiviral drugs. Results Of the 97 eyes in the treatment group,65 were markedly improved,25 were effective and 16 were invalid.Of the 89 eyes in the control group,49 were markedly improved,24 were effective and 16 were invalid.Significant difference was observed between the groups(P0.05).Conclusion Combined therapy of TCM and western medicine has the merits of the shorter course of disease, the lower recurrence rate, the higher curative effect, the faster recover of the vision, etc.
