Abstract
Objective: To explore the association of intron 4 (eNOS4) polymorphism in endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) gene with dyslipidemia. Methods: Oxidase method, hours method and electrochemiluminescence method were used to detect glucose, lipid, insulin and HbA1C. Polymorphism was identified by DNA extraction, PCR, 6% polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, cloning and sequencing. Results: eNOS4 polymorphism was biallelic(a and b alleles) in normal control group, but triallelic in diabetic group. The third allele-named allele c had one more 27 bp repeats: GAA GTC TAG ACC TGC TGC GGG GGT GAG, was found. The levels of cholesterol and triglyceride were significantly higher in allele a carriers, especially of triglyceride. Conclusion: Allele a polymorphism in eNOS4 is associated with dyslipidemia.
