Modern Interpretation of Practical Materialism——Discuss With Professor Cong Da-chuan's Practical Idealism

Is the characteristic of practice materialism or idealism? The question has been the center topic for the later research on Marxism since Western Marxism interpreted Marx' work again.It draws Chinese academic attention too.Material is neither the logic beginning nor realistic beginning,but human labor serves.Whether the characteristic of practice is idealism or materialism is not a metaphysical problem.Practice is the realistic activity with intention,whose character embodies the function of bridge and media.Marx found the character of man's autonomy,and use it to criticize the directness of old materialism.Men's social practice creates human history,so we can see that Marx' philosophy is based on the new materialism.To distinguish his materialism from the old one,Marx called his philosophy as neo-materialism or Practical materialism.It is the materialism in action.
