Abstract
Objective To study the effects of dietary fiber(DF) in Oat bran on blood glucose and blood lipid in rats with experiment type-2 diabetes mellitus. Methods 50 wistar rats(194.4±5.3g) are divided into 5 groups base on their body weight.Every group has 10 rats(half male and half female). The control group(group A) is fed normal diet. The other four groups are injected with lower dose(25mg/kg bw) of streptozotocin(STZ) and fed a diet with high calorie and high fat. After formation of the diabetes model, week the three concentration of DF all decrease fasting group B(T2DM model group) is fed a diet with high calorie and high fat,and group C,D,E are fed 30% DF,40% DF and 60% DF respectively. The effects of DF on metabolism of glucose and lipid, and availability of food are observed. Results ①The difference of food availability is statistically significant.Compared group B with the other four groups respectively, the differences are all significant ②Before the injection of STZ(0W),the level of blood glucose and lipid in every group are statistically same. But on the eighth blood glucose(FBG),Triglycerides,(TG),Total cholesterol(TC),and Low density lipid-cholesterol(LDL-C),significantly,and increase High density lipid-cholesterol(HDL-c) at the same time. The effects of 40%,60% DF stronger than 30% DF.③The glucose tolerance curve of every group is significantly different. The curve of group A and B are steep, while group C,D and E are relatively smooth. Conclusion DF can decrease the blood glucose and blood lipid.
