Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and significance of PTEN and P-ERK protein in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. Methods Expression of PTEN and P-ERK protein was detected in 34 SCC and 15 normal skin specimens by SP immunohistochemical technique. Results The positive rate of PTEN protein was significantly lower in SCC(41.18%) than that in normal skin(100%)(P0.05);The positive rate of P-ERK was significantly higher in SCC(76.47%) than that in normal skin(20.00%)(P0.05);The positive rate of PTEN and P-ERK protein in the low differentiation group were lower and higher than them in the high differentiation group(P0.05),A significant negative relationship was observed between the expression of PTEN and P-ERK protein in SCC(P0.01).Conclusions The decrease or deletion of PTEN protein expression may not be able to effectively inhibit the over-activation of Ras/Raf / MEK/ERK signaling pathway, which will result in the malignant transformation and proliferation.
