Abstract
Objective To investigate the expressions of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer(NSCLC)and its relationship to histopathological features. Methods The expressions of VEGF was observed by immunohistochemical methods in 58 cases of non-small cell lung cancer and 25 cases of non-lung cancer tissue. Results The positive rates of VEGF in NSCLC were 43.1 % which was significantly higher than those in non-lung cancer tissue(14.3 %, P 0.01). The expressions of VEGF have no significant relationship with pathological grade and histological types. The expressions of VEGF was related to lymph nodes metastasis and survival time (P 0.05 or P 0.01). Conclusion VEGF over expression may be a biological marker in non-small cell lung cancer, and it may serve as a significant marker for predicting the metastasis and the prognosis of non-small cell cancer patients.
