Abstract
The physics mechanism of electromagnetically induced transparency in a Λ-type three-level atomic system was investigated by means of the semiclassical theory. The electromagnetically induced transparency is an effect of quantum interference between two laser-induced channels when the laser field interacts with an atom. The explanations of these phenomena are given by using the dark state, the dressed states and the density-matrix equations.
