Abstract
Objective To study the wavefront aberrations induced by orthokeratology and the changes in aberrations following treatment.Methods Orthokeratology was performed to correct the refractive errors of 42 eyes of 21 patients.Wavefront aberrations were measured with a subjective aberrometer(Suzhou Brite Eye Model WFA 1000) before treatment and at the time the best uncorrected visual acuity was obtained following orthokeratology.Three measurements were obtained for each condition,and RMS values for overall wavefront aberrations and each order of the Zernike aberrations were analyzed.Results Overall,wavefront aberrations and the RMS from the 3rd to the 5th and the 7th order of Zernike aberrations were significantly greater after treatment than before treatment(P0.05).However,there was no difference between the two conditions in the RMS of the 2nd and 6th order of Zernike aberrations.Conclusion Orthokeratology can cause an increase in wavefront aberration in the human eye.
