The Nature of the Word Tone of Jiang Yougao's "Rhyme Analysis of The Book of Songs"

Abstract

Based on statistics,the words marked the tone for the rhyme,totally 277 cases,are analyzed in Jiang Yougao's Rhyme Analysis of The Book of Songs.The comparative study found that the most in Jiang's book are right.But there are 31 cases Jiang failed to recognize the development and changes of the tone,for the pursuit of harmony rhyme.This is his early lack of theoretical understanding,and also it's lack of knowledge about the ancient phonology.
